The supper club era of the Stamm House emerged in the 1950s when the building once again changed ownership. Proprietors during this time included Les and Millie Moller, Mr. and Mrs. E.F. McSherry, Frank Pohlkamp and the Jim Sweeney Family. During this time many of the famous specials, including the Fish Fry tradition, which we proudly continue, were introduced to the Stamm House menu. Stuart House, a program of the Rape Treatment Center, is internationally recognized as a model for the treatment of sexually abused children. It was established in 1988 to remedy serious problems in the traditional child protection system and to enhance the treatment of child victims.

It is said that to this day, no one has contributed more to the concept of home and affordable housing as visionary Santa Fe builder Allen Stamm. Much has changed in Wisconsin since then, but the building — now known as 1847 at the Stamm House — is still serving meals in a structure that was lovingly restored starting four years ago by Troy Rost, a Nebraska native who has rehabbed 20 other old buildings in Dane County. He also wanted to honor the early Wisconsin residents who would have lived and worked in the region. Craig Madigan, a Detroit native who runs the restaurant, said it became a supper club in the 1950s and was known for its Friday night fish fries. In recent years the restaurant fell on hard times and Rost was able to buy it out of foreclosure in 2013. It was a natural spot to build a store and stagecoach stop in 1847 to serve both the small community and travelers.

Good location, and the room was very comfortable. The front desk worker....Tabitha.....was very pleasant and made checking in what it should be.....easy and enjoyable. Actually, to my surprise, when I got there, the GM, Chet Patel....gave us a FREE upgrade to the presidential suite. All I can say about this stay was that it was what you always want your stay to be. Begin assembling your cookie houses by adding Royal Icing either side of the triangular house shape. When the dough has chilled, unwrap it then place it on a sheet of baking parchment. These festive gingerbread bars are frosted with a scrumptious cream cheese frosting that perfectly balances out the spiced sweetness of the bar. Try to only re-roll the dough about three times at most, otherwise, it gets stiff and hard to handle.
Raisin Cinnamon Roll Wreath
You will be ready to decorate in minutes if you just use hot glue to assemble. Use licorice, candy buttons, gumdrops, sprinkles, Necco's candy, Jordan almonds, candy canes, M&M's- the choice combinations to decorate are endless. Colorful candy with different shapes will make a big impact here and add a ton of dimension to the houses. I was able to fit enough pieces to make four houses on each baking tray. Each tray took about 10 minutes to bake, so it took about an hour to bake all the pieces in total.
As for the decorations, you'll receive red and white ready-to-use icing, green fondant, and three types of delectable candy. You'll also get decorating bags and a handy instruction sheet. Prepare to top your gingerbread house with gumdrops, jelly beans, candy canes and a coating of powdered sugar snow.
